Perhaps his most exciting and risky album, recorded in his own studio after months and months of confinement. "Mr. Beast" represents the return of this unique and attractive rock band always capitalized, but always exploring new ways to reinvent itself. This time, using a more varied instrumentation, combining raging walls of sound with delicate passages of piano and some calmer interludes. Closer than ever to their live sound.
is a happiness that years after the birth of the post-rock, we can continue to enjoy it with the group because we discovered that many. In this' Mr. Beast 'no place for the intense twists of minutes and minutes that have always characterized Mogwai discs (especially the first three), but great songs. Whenever I hear 'Friend of the Night', single display, quickly lost count of the number of times in a row that came to listen. The opening track on the album, almost sinister 'Auto Rock', also uses the conjunction between piano and guitar to cut breathing and cause a chill. But above all 'Auto Rock' serves as an introduction to the terrifying 'Glasgow Mega-Snake' one of the best songs of his career, perfect sound sample Mogwai and more than worthy of 'Young Team' or 'Rock Action'. There is also in 'Mr. Beast 'memories to sound' Happy songs for happy people '(2003), which many have described as "elevator music" (I do not seem so bad), particularly in' Acid food ', but although it hurts me to say affection for Sigur Rós, remain much more elegant, discreet and subtle than they. A shame that have not passed the English top 31 albums, because we are facing their third best album, and the case of Mogwai, no small feat.
